BUSINESS POLICIES

SESSION DETAILS: All private academic tutoring sessions are sixty (60) minutes in length. The client has the option of once- or twice-per-week tutoring sessions, based upon availability. There are 30-minute breaks between each tutoring session to accommodate for extended / make-up sessions & misc. teacher needs. (Updated: 2006-03-11) [ Top ] [ Bottom ]

LATE STUDENT ARRIVALS: Courtesy 30-minute grace period is allowed: within the first 30 minutes of a particular session, you must call to cancel or reschedule for EMERGENCY PURPOSES ONLY (abuse of this policy will not be tolerated). If a student arrives late, the lesson will proceed according to the schedule and the missed minutes will be forfeited; after 30 minutes, the entire lesson is forfeited. BEFORE / AFTER LESSONS: Students waiting on the bench are to remain seated until called or their ride arrives. No roaming around the premesis (or neighboring premeses) is permitted, and the Tutor By Mari service is NOT LIABLE for any injuries that occur to students before and after their scheduled lesson while outside of the house. PROPERTY DAMAGE: Should any personal property damage occur both inside or outside of the house (and your child is determined to be responsible), a damage fee will be assessed (on a case-by-case basis) and charged to the responsible parent(s) or legal guardian(s). STUDENT ILLNESS: Out of courtesy to all, please reschedule if your child is ill!! Ms. Mari is very susceptible to germs at this time (as she is the primary caregiver for a pair of newborn infant twins), and if the teacher gets sick...nobody gets tutoring sessions!! FAMILY DISCOUNT: Additional members of the same family (siblings, relatives, etc.) that are all being paid for by the same client, will receive a 10% discount for the second (2nd) and consecutive student(s). This discount will remain in effect so long as there are two (2) or more active students being taught, and is over-and-above any volume prepayment discount(s). TUITION PAYMENT REFUNDS: We are working diligently towards making our preferred method of payment to be via the PayPal® online payment system, allowing clients the flexibility of paying by credit card or e-check via the Internet. To that end, we have adopted PayPal's sixty (60) calendar day refund policy, according to the following table (which also applies to Non-PayPal payments); exceptions will be considered (must be submitted in writing) on a case-by-case basis.

LIABILITY RELEASE & INDEMNIFICATION: For liability protection and insurance purposes, it is the policy of the Tutor By Mari (TBM) service to require all of its clients [parent(s) or legal guardian(s)] to read & sign the Liability Release & Indemnification Agreement prior to starting any and all tutoring sessions. Clients (parents, guardians, etc.) who wish to participate in any TBM activity (session observation, etc.) must also sign the Liability Relase & Indemnification Agreement before the event starts. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES

ASSIGNMENTS / HOMEWORK: Please bring assignments / homework to each session, as Ms. Mari will assist the student with any and all work as assigned by the classroom teacher. ADDITIONAL HOMEWORK TIME: If the student is unable to finish all of his/her assignments and/or homework in the 1-hour session time, then Ms. Mari will inform the parent(s) of how much additional time may be required to complete the unfinished work at home.
